Today is my grandpa's 84th birthday! On Sunday we had a little celebration for him. It will also be grandma & grandpa's 61st wedding anniversary on Friday. Can you believe that?!! Here are a few quick pics that I snapped with my little canon sd1000 elph (It's a great little camera, by the way, in case you're in the market for a new digital camera. I just keep this one in my purse for when I don't have my canon 5d with me)...
Grandpa was born on March 5th, 1924. So, I did a quick google search for "1924" to see what things looked like back then. Here's what I learned about the year 1924:
1) The first New York City Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is held
2) The first regular airmail services start in the USA
3) The First ever Winter Olympic games is started
4) The Summer Olympics are held in Paris, France
5) Walt Disney creates his first cartoon, "Alice's Wonderland."
To take it a step further, I also searched "1924" on YouTube and the top clip was from the 100m Dash in the 1924 Summer Olympics. If you've ever seen the movie "Chariots of Fire" then you know the story of Eric Liddell. Eric was a Scottsman who was favored to win the 100m Dash, and he pulled himself out of the race because it was going to be held on a Sunday, and he was a devout christian. Here's a glimpse of what the world looked like the year the Frederick Fisher was born...
And here's one of the most popular songs from 1924. It's Frank Sinatra singing "All Alone."
Happy 84th birthday, Grandpa! Happy 61st Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa! May you have many more!!!:)

You have a Wonderful Family
Jamie, These are great. I love seeing the family pictures.
Wanted to tell you that Jeremy and Kim were on a flight to Dallas Tuesday with Peyton. He got an autograph and a quick pic with his cell phone.
Forgot to leave my name on the previous comment.
Love Aunt Janet
Jamie, I stumbled across your site when looking at Beth's pictures and your photos are breathtaking! This post though...I love it. This post makes me miss my little town and these two people that lived so quietly on my little corner when my world was perfect. I often have dreams of cutting through their backyard. Oh to be young again and live two doors down from your amazing grandparents!
This post makes me smile.
I'm so incredibly happy for you! How wonderful it must be to be doing what you love!
Take care.
